Sofia Kukkonen was born in Finland, and has studied art in Italy at The Academy of Fine Arts of Florence.

Her artistic research is based on the synthesis of the search for beauty, from the Renaissance period, and on a lenticular attention to details; an almost obsessive tension to reach the perfect form – which in Oriental art, the artist reaches in a state of mind close to that induced by meditation. The external harmony of the painting meets the internal harmony of the artist.

Sofia’s painting is based on the art of drawing with sanguine, and on the study of anatomy, following the way of the great masters of the Renaissance. Her training has involved copying the anatomical drawings by Leonardo da Vinci. She uses oil paints and sometimes metallic pigments and red chalk which is often visible between the brushstrokes.
